Portland Re-Design

FINALLY, WE ARE FINISHED!

SK Sartell Designer & Artist SK Sartell Designer & Artist The roof is actually red tiles. It is completely covered in moss. The junk in the yard keeps this pretty lady hidden.
We are designing a totally new kitchen. It has an amazing stainless steel countertop from the 1940's, with the sink molded in, we will be  using it to style the rest of the kitchen. This grand old lady has well used maple floors, coved ceilings, fireplaces and built-in armoires.

The floors in the kitchen and down the stairs to the basement are covered in three layers of vinyl. What a pain to remove.

This side of the kitchen did not have any cabinets. The stove is old and scarred. The little corner next to the microwave is actually an old brick fireplace flu. We are removing the layers of drywall over the layer of plaster to expose the old brick. We are filling in an extra doorway from the hall and making the kitchen almost double in cabinet size. We have updated the old painted fireplace to Travertine marble. This will lighten and brighten the living room. This fireplace is the focal point of an nice room. The paint will change of course and this will also brighten and expand the room.

The house has great potential and I am going to dig until I find and expose it.

SK Sartell Designer & Artist The bath is very small. A complete corner has been taken up with a laundry shoot that starts on the third floor and goes to the unfinished and smelly basement.

This laundry shoot is now gone and a new doorway to an expanded master bedroom is in its place. The shower doors are gone and the Formica shower surround is history. I have tiled the floor and a new bath/shower surround. The tub has been refinished and sparkles like new. The free-standing sink is finding a new home in a new basement bath and a double sink tiles and tile and pebble topped cabinet stand in its place.

Completion date is scheduled for June 1-15, 05.
