The concrete studio floor was troweled very smooth. When the concrete was hard, I carved the leaves and vines with  a Roto-zip tool with a diamond blade. The grooves are approximately 1/2" deep, I then concrete stained each vine and leaf. The balance of the floor was stained a burgundy and purple.

We then sealed it four times with a concrete sealer. I will use a floor wax to keep it looking superb.

This is a great work surface although slick if it has sawdust on it. Remember when they used to sprinkle saw dust on dance floors!  Very same effect. If  I were worried about this, I would use a fine sand in the final sealer for grip.
